Confirmation is an affirmation of one's baptism.
Confirmation Curriculum
Confirmation at First Lutheran Church is a 3-year discipleship ministry including 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. The curriculum is focused on teaching the students about the Triune God of the Christian faith; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The course outline includes Bible studies, Lutheran catechism instruction, the teachings and life of Jesus Christ and, participation in service projects. The purpose and goal of the ministry is to allow the opportunity for students to understand the Christian faith and confirm their own faith in God.
6th Grade Curriculum
6th graders meet as their own class and concentrate on learning the stories of the Bible.

Spring Sessions Introduction to the Bible (New Testament)
Lent worship service participation
7th and 8th Grade Curriculum
7th and 8th graders meet together as one large group and they are also assigned to small groups for discussions and special service projects.

An exploration of Jesus Christ according to the Gospel books of the Bible.
Participation in Service Projects
Small group mission projects are held throughout the year.
Confirmation Final Requirements
When a student finishes the 3 years of teachings and curriculum they are entrusted with the responsibility of professing their own faith. All students will be expected to meet the final requirements criteria as outlined below.
During the final summer of confirmation, students are asked to profess their own faith through the following means:
1) Spiritual Journal
Keep a spiritual journal of their faith journey.
2) Participate in Church Ministries
Choose a specific ministry of the church to participate in for time agreed up by
the confirmation leader.
3) Interview with Church Leaders
Participate in an interview session with pastors and a church council leader to
discuss their faith and their confirmation experience. In this interview, students
will demonstrate their ability to recite:
- Memorized Bible passages
- The books of the Bible in order
- Doctrine from the Lutheran Catechism
4) Statement of Faith
Write his/her own statement of faith and share it with the church congregation
on a Sunday morning during worship time.
Upon the completion of these requirements the student confirms their desire to participate in the ministries of First Lutheran Church and is then confirmed in their faith during a special worship service in the fall.
