Adult Fellowship Opportunities:
Popovers – If you like fellowship and food, then this group is for you. All who sign up are divided into groups of four couples. Singles are welcome too! These groups will meet in September, October, January, and February. New groups are put together for each month. The first name on the list is the host couple. They pick a date and contact the others. The host couple provides the meat dish, beverages and potatoes, if needed. The second name on the list brings bread and vegetables. The third name on the list brings a salad and the fourth name on the list provides dessert. Watch for an opportunity to sign up each August in “the green sheet.”
Christian Fellowship – This fellowship groups meets the first Friday of the month at 12:00 noon for a prepared lunch followed by a devotion and a varied program. It’s a great way to share an hour in fellowship!
L.I.F.T. (Lutherans In Fellowship Together) – This group gathers on the 4th Thursday of the month for a potluck meal at 6:00. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share and their own table service. Following the meal, the rest of the evening is spent in fellowship playing card games and board games.
Solos – After the inspiration of Sunday mornings, single and widowed women enjoy continuing the fellowship. So they gather with friends to share a Sunday meal at 11:45 am, usually at local restaurant. You’re welcome to join this group simply by showing up! Plans are made three months in advance and circulated to participating members, as well as being announced in each Messenger. For more information about this group, contact Janice Hansen.
Fellowship Trips – Periodically group bus trips are planned. Whether it’s a journey to Savannah, Georgia or Mancinac Island, Michigan, former First Lutheran staffer Betsy Hansen arranges accommodations and travel with an eye toward the spiritual growth that comes from being pilgrims together. Contact Pastor Norm or Betsy to find out what plans are in the works!
Breaking News!
Announcing the Adult Fellowship to Mackinac Island.
August 15-21, 2010
Cost $649.00 Double Occupancy
Join the fun with other adults and travel to charming Mackinac Island in Northern Michigan. Enjoy the beautiful North Country scenery on a fully equipped motor coach. (With luck, we can play cards in the back while we travel and there will be games and treats on board.) We will tour the island (arriving by ferryboat) and take a carriage ride around the island. Other days will find us in Sault Sainte Marie and cruising through the Soo Locks, having a guided tour of quaint Mackinaw city, seeing the old lighthouse, visiting Mackinaw crossings and Colonial Michilimackinac. We will see Grand Rapids and visit the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum (we have found these presidential museums to be most interesting.) It will be a great trip. Cost is only $649.00 for 7 days, 6 nights, all breakfasts, all admissions listed, ferryboat and carriage ride and 3 dinners, tips to guides and bus driver. The only thing you need to bring is your money for lunches and a few dinners and whatever you want to spend in gift shops along the way. There will be plenty of opportunities to explore on your own. The First Lutheran Church company of travelers has always been top notch! Contact Betsy Hansen for further information and watch for brochures with sign up details….
