First Lutheran Church Ministries
FUEY (Fellowship of Upper Elementary Youth) began in the winter of 2005. FUEY is an opportunity for 3rd-5th grade youth and their friends to meet after school once a month for fun, fellowship and faith building. FUEY is a "youth group" for our younger kids to begin to solidify relationships in the body of Christ. FUEY meets on the third Thursday of each month at the church. Each meeting includes food, devotions and prayer, games, a special presentation/guest, and hands-on learning. Occasionally FUEY will go on outings like Ice Skating and the summer FUEY trip to Adventureland in Des Moines, Iowa.
JOY League -- Jesus, Others, then Yourself: it is in that order that we should focus our attention and energy. Those initials create the acronym in the name, JOY League. As we prepare young people for a life in the Church through confirmation, we are trying to impart this order of values by which to live and grow spiritually. JOY League's mission is to provide a safe place for kids to grow in their peer relationships. The JOY League consists of sixth through ninth grade confirmation students at First Lutheran. They meet every last Sunday of the month from 7:00-8:30 and have monthly outings.
FLYs --First Lutheran Youth, or the "FLYs" as they are affectionately termed, is made up of 9th-12th grade youth from the congregation and their friends. The main purpose of FLYs is to provide Christian community, spiritual growth, positive play and opportunities for service for our High School youth. FLYs meet every first and third Wednesday of the month from 7:30-9:00 p.m. with traditional events like "Sock Wars" or "Dr. Livingstone", special speakers, Bible studies, service events, and varied activities. Every FLY night includes devotions, games, treats and prayer. Each summer the FLYs travel in late July to early August to a destination in the continental United States. Last year FLYs traveled to Wisconsin's north shore. This summer's trip will take us to Maine and the upper New England states.
ZOE is a music and drama ministry of First Lutheran church. ZOE! is the Greek word for "LIFE!" and it is with great LIFE that the participants of ZOE! participate in this special experience. ZOE! meets weekly for rehearsals and Bible study in preparing a musical that will eventually be taken on a weekend tour. The musical includes contemporary Christian music and skits that are both fun and serious- speaking to the real questions and concerns of faith.
SPOUDAZO is a music and drama ministry of First Lutheran church for High School youth of FLC and the community. Spoudazo is a Greek word meaning, "with energy". The 9th-12th grade youth involved in this ministry have energy and enthusiasm for the sharing of the Gospel.Beginning in May, Spoudazo meets weekly for rehearsals, Bible Study and prayer. In July, Spoudazo takes their original musical production on tour. Many Spoudazo participants are 9th-12th grade youth of First Lutheran Church, but it is also an ecumenical group involving youth from several Fremont-area congregations. In total the group has involved around 85 participants representing nearly 20 churches in the greater Fremont area. For more information about Spoudazo or to inquire about hosting Spoudazo. Please contact Pastor Anjanette Rist at the church office.
Youth Education

of our congregational family. Youth Education is
held year-round for preschool - high school.
Our programs for 6th-12th grade youth seeks to integrated faith and life... and
have fun while we're at it! FUEY ministers to upper elementary youth. JOY League
is the complement to our confirmation program. FLYs is the High School youth
group. ZOE and Spoudazo incorporate music and faith in weekly rehearsals for
productions that are taken on tour. The youth of First Lutheran are encouraged
